This is a handheld infrared thermometer with a built-in port that allows the included probe thermometer to be plugged into the unit and used like a grill probe thermometer. With its 40 in. long cord, this thermometer can even be left in meats to monitor temperature over time if you need to do other tasks while cooking. The infrared mode has a distance-to-target ratio of 5:1, making it simple and safe to check the surface temperature of extremely hot objects. A bright digital backlit displays large numbers, minimum & maximum temperatures, and presents target temperatures with audible alerts.
