Sorby ProEdge WPEKNIFEKIT Knife Sharpening Accessory Kit. The Robert Sorby Knife Sharpening Accessory Kit is a highly effective but simple to use system to create razor sharp edges on any style of knife blade from pocket and woodcarving knives to kitchen and hunting knives. The fitting and setup of the Knife Sharpening system only takes a few minutes and the only piece of equipment required is a 13mm wrench/spanner.
The kit contains the following:
Raised Wear Platen / Back Plate – The platen / back plate is attached to the Proedge machine to help it perform optimally when using the knife sharpening jigs.
Universal Arm – Used as a steady rest for the knife jigs.
Small Knife Holder w/Angle Adjustment Collar – Ideal for pocket knives, vegetable knives and other blades up to 8 inches long.
Large Knife Holder w/Angle Adjustment Collar - Ideal for hunting knives, carving knives, and other blades over 8 inches long.
Allen Key / Wrench – For tightening and loosening the knife holder clamps.
Aluminium Oxide Belt – Includes one each of the 60 and 240 grit belts. Aluminum oxide belts put a keen edge on tools while avoiding overheating.
Trizact Belts – Includes one each of the 600, 1200, and 3000 grit belts. Trizact is a unique abrasive with engineered pyramidal shaped particles that cut consistently and last for a long time. Works best for superfine finishing of knives and other fine edge tools.
Sorby selected these belts because they have an even cut rate and give a vastly prolonged belt life over standard abrasive belts. This produces knives and tools with consistent honed bevels and incredibly sharp cutting edges.
As with all abrasives, you should always use the belts in order of grit size, from the coarsest to the finest. Working through the grits maximizes the efficiency of each belt, and achieves the best possible results.
