The Makita 18V LXT® 4-1/2” / 5" Cut-Off/Angle Grinder features Automatic Speed Change™ technology that maintains speed under load and a BL™ Brushless Motor that runs cooler. The tool also includes Active Feedback-sending Technology (AFT®) that turns the motor off if wheel rotation is halted. To enhance user comfort, Makita constructed this grinder with rubberized soft grips, a slide switch with lock-on operation, and a compact design measuring 14-1/4-inches long and weighing only 5.6-lbs with battery (sold separately). For additional convenience, this power tool also features soft start-ups, spiral bevel gears that offer smoother rotations and anti-restart protection which prevents the motor from starting up if the switch lock is on and battery is inserted. The BL™brushless motor offers enhanced battery optimization with up to 50% longer run time per change and is protected by wire mesh intake covers. The system also includes a 3-stage LED battery charge level indicator and is equipped with Makita Start Protection Computer Controls™ which prevents over-heating, overloading and over-discharging. Batteries and chargers are sold separately from this tool but Makita 18V Lithium-Ion batteries deliver the fastest charging time in their categories, giving time back to your projects and requiring less time on the charging stations. This handheld Cut-Off / Angle Grinder is protected by Makita’s Extreme Protection Technology (XPT™) which is a protective seal inside the tool that channels water and dust away from internal components.
