About Us

welcome to hartville hardware

When Sol Miller started a livestock auction in 1939, he created a legacy of community, family, and Christian values. Thanks to the values of faith, family, and fellowship instilled in us by our predecessors, we continue to thrive today. We believe in going the extra mile to help our customers through knowledgeable salespeople and first-rate customer service. With these core values in place, we are the local hardware store you can depend on, near or far.

the evolution of our business

Since 1939, our business has evolved from a small-town hardware store to the largest independent hardware store in the United States. Since our beginning, we have outgrown two locations, settling in our 305,000 sq. ft. flagship store on the same campus as our sister companies, Hartville Kitchen and Hartville Market Place & Flea Market. In 2020, we purchased a second location in Middlefield, which is now in its own 81,000 sq. ft. building with a 36,000 sq. ft. drive-thru lumber yard. A year later, in 2021, we expanded further by partnering with Lehman’s.
