SharkBite 1/2" x 1/2" Push-to-Connect Conversion Coupling offers an innovative solution for making pipe connections with half the insertion effort while providing double the burst pressure strength. This coupling features a newly designed stainless-steel retainer that enhances durability and supports a 250 psi pressure rating. It is the fastest and easiest way to transition from polybutylene pipe to PEX (cross-linked polyethylene), copper, CPVC (chlorinated polyvinyl chloride), and PE-RT, whether the pipes are wet or dry. Approved for underground use with wrapping in burial installations and suitable for behind-wall applications without access panels, this fitting is certified to withstand temperatures up to 200°F and pressures up to 250 psi. Color-coded collars identify the compatible pipe types: gray for polybutylene and tan for PEX, copper, CPVC, and PE-RT. Integral tube liners ensure secure, leak-free connections on both polybutylene and PEX installations. The SharkBite design meets NSF/ANSI-61 and ASSE 1061 standards for potable water and hydronic heating water distribution, with a maximum lead content of 0.25% on wetted surfaces.
